HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 !

2021 was full of advances for BlackCycle! Technological advances in the first place with more than 10 innovations along the value chain on the way, the submission of 34 deliverables, and the proof of several concepts along the entire value chain such as the end-of-life tyre deconstruction, the pyrolysis process optimisation, the refining of pyrolytic oil and the production of sustainable carbon black and plasticiser!

2021 was also full of distinctions for BlackCycle which was nominated for the Second Annual Recircle Awards which recognise the contribution of companies and individuals within the tyre manufacturing, retreading, and recycling industries towards the Circular Economy. BlackCycle was also selected for the Netexplo Change Prizes awarded by the Netexplo Observatory, which distinguish the large companies which innovate and transform in an exemplary way on the French territory.

2021 ended with the first workshop of BlackCycle held at the Michelin technological centre in Ladoux (France) with the presence of 120 international industrialists, academics, H2020 project coordinators, politicians and institutional representatives from 20 countries aiming to exchange and discuss about the deployment of circular economy initiatives in Europe.

We are confident that 2022 is going will path the way for the complete success of the BlackCycle project!

SUCCESS STORY

1st BLACKCYCLE WORKSHOP : THE CONSORTIUM ANNOUNCES THE WORLD'S FIRST PRODUCTION OF SUSTAINABLE CARBON BLACKS!

After its first 18 months of existence, the consortium of the BlackCycle project welcomed on the 22nd of November 2021 at Michelin’s technology center at Ladoux (France), 120 international industry leaders, academics, H2020 project coordinators, politicians, and institutional representatives from 20 countries to exchange ideas and discuss the deployment of circular economy initiatives in Europe.

During the workshop, the BlackCycle consortium announced the world’s first production of sustainable carbon blacks (sCB) for tire applications on a conventional carbon black furnace reactor by using oils derived from an end-of-life tire pyrolysis process. This novel production of a sustainable material from end-of-life tyres represents a truly circular process.
